New Challanges, New Goals and New Season

Well the last 2 weeks have been really good, I am trying a new event for six months and i am so excited about it. Heptathlon is an event with seven individual events in it. It involves 100m hurdles, High Jump 200meters, Shot Put, Long Jump, Javelin and The dreadful 800m at the end.
I have chosen this new event to add variety in my training to keep me motivated and stay excited about my sport.
After I came back from europe after the world championships, I was really down and really not motivated to train at all. I had a whole week off training when i started feeling like this to think about what i wanted out of this sport. I knew that my ultimate goal is to win an olympic gold medal and i know that i have the potential to achieve this, so i started thinking of ways to overcome my feelings and that is how i came up with heptathlons. I have always wanted to try a heptathlon at least once and i thought well why not go out there and give it a go, so I have and i have not looked back.
I have only been training for 2 weeks for the heptathlon and my first competition is on the 21st of november and it goes over 2 days so it is going to b interesting how i go.

I have now got new challanges to look forward to and that is competing for points and not just thinking abut who i am competing against. The thing is with heptathlons is, it is based on a points scheme, the faster you run, The higher you jump or the furher you throw, the more points you are going to get. Aiming to get these points is going to be a real challange for me as i am not as naturally talented at all the events specially the shot put and the high jump, i am not exactly the tallest person in the world. The national champs are on at the start of April and that is most likely going to be my last heptathlon for a while anyway.

So that is pretty much what is going on at the moment ill try my best to get some photos up of me doing some of these events in my next blog. Till then enjoy. love sal

Being Back At Home/ wedding plans

Being back at home is absolutley brilliant, I brought my Bridesmaids down for the weekend so that we could sort out dresses and make up and show them what their flowers are going to look like.
That weekend went great we got their dresses sorted within an hour and you wouldnt believe it i actually chose and bought my dress within an hour in the same shop, so we spent 2 hours in one shop and got everything we needed.
Training has been a little up and down the last week but i have now found something new that has lifted my motivation levels to go to training and have fun, I am not going to explain what that motivation is just yet I want to keep it a secret and let people know a little later on because it is quite different and it might shock a few people.
That is it for now, so have fun and keep smiling.
love sal

Home Sweet Home

Well i have been home now for about 1.5 weeks and it has been bliss, i was also very lucky as well. When we arrived on the wednesday the 23rd there was a huge dust storm in sydney that travelled up to queensland, we landed at about 6am in the morning and we arrived at home about 2 hours after that and then as soon as we dropped our bags on the floor the dust storm had hit our home, the reason we were lucky was becasue any flights coming in on that day were either delayed or cancelled.
That week i started back at training on the saturday and it felt so good to get back into training and to feel fit and strong again. I Started back in the gym today and i am so happy that it wasnt as hard as it was going to be, the exercises wer based around getting my core strong again so that my back will get better and that i hopefully wont have any more dramas.
Last week i went to browns plains little athletics to do a talk to the little athletes, and also try and inspire them to achieve there dreams and to work hard for what they want, the appearance was run by AXA and mission australia. These two organisations are sponsoring 10 indigenous athletes from the area in brisbane called Inala, these kids are a little disadvantaged compared to some of the other kids, so we thought that it would be great to help them out by helping them get to the little athletics centre in browns plains and also get them a uniform so that they can be apart of the group and fit in.

Wedding plans are going great. I had my bridesmaids down t the gold coast for a weekend to sort out sizes for their dresses, and i also chose my wedding dress which i was very excited about, but it is staying a secret till the actual day before i let nayone know what it looks like.

i think that is about it for now, ill keep in touch. P.S it my dog oscars birthday today he is 1 years old.
